What's NEW! from Sun Microsystems.

UltraSPARC III - Sun Microsystems has announced the next generation of it's UltraSPARC microprocessor family, the UltraSPARC III, which is designed to operate at a minimum of 600MHz. This provides a highly scalable and robust networking solution that will be the cornerstone of Sun's network computing architecture. A 750MHz model is now available, with a 900MHz following very soon. The 600MHz model has a 4Mb external cache whereas the 750MHz and 900MHz models will have a 8Mb external cache.
Sun Blade 1000 - The ideal system for processor and graphics intensive applications, accommodating up to two high performance UltraSPARC III new generation processors. This model of desktop workstation is the first in a range from Sun, that gives twice the performance, memory and disk capacity of existing UltraSPARC II workstations. The SunBlade 1000 workstation provides exceptional flexibility in memory, disk, I/O interfaces, peripherals and graphic options, while meeting the rigorous standards required by today's technical and business professionals. Sun Fire 280R - This server is an ideal solution for any user that requires exceptional power and reliability in a compact package. With it's blistering performance, using the latest UltraSPARC III technology, coupled with intensive RAS features, this is a powerful addition to the Sun server product range. The SunFire 280R includes Sun StorEdge T3 arrays and is rackmountable in a standard commercial 19" computer rack.

Sun Blade 100 - This new workstation is a powerful, low cost system that boasts a 64-bit high performance UltraSPARC IIe CPU, provides plenty of internal disk and memory, and features a fast PCI bus for enhanced I/O. With three PCI slots, on board graphics, 10/100 Ethernet, USB and Firewire ports as standard, this UNIX workstation delivers exceptional performance in business and technical environments at an affordable price.  Netra products - Sun have added a few new netra products to their range of Telco servers. The Netra X1 is the industry's lowest-priced UNIX/RISC server ever and is ideal for Firewall, DNS, Cache, Print or Proxy servers. The Netra T1 AC200 is a low-cost, carrier-grade, full-functioned single processor with a 1U form factor. The netra E1 PCI System Expander is a compact and rack-optimised PCI I/O expansion product. There are also two new CompactPCI network servers the ct400 and ct800 that offer high availibility, flexibility, scalability and serviceability in a modular rackmount design.

cPCI Network Cards - A range of network interface cards in the smaller more flexible form factor of CompactPCI (cPCI). These 3U cPCI adapters provide hot swap, more slots than standard PCI to allow for expansion, thermal advantages, and mechanical robustness. There is a Sun Quad fastEthernet, SunATM 155 or 622 interface, or the combined Sun 10/100 Ethernet plus SCSI card available for the new Netra ct and Sun Fire Midframe servers.
