Systems
Prism-tps is a complete Radiation Treatment
Planning system that uses Sun Microsystems scalable SPARC architecture
and Solaris UNIX operating environment to host the highly efficient applications
software developed from the original EMIPLAN-Target-Target2 series of
planning systems with its Bentley-Milan roots.
The applications software source code is the same as a standard Target2
system, only the image and graphics interface handling libraries have
been modified to use a standard Sun graphics accelerator instead of the
expensive PX graphics accelerator board. This updated system is functionally
compatible with the GE Target2 system, having identical applications features,
data structures, I/O handling, and user interfaces.
Clinical software features include:
|
- CT image transfer via magnetic tape, floppy disk,
and ethernet
- Patient data entry via mouse and/or digitiser
- Auto-contouring of body outline and internal structures
- External Beam Planning for Cobalt, Photons, and Electrons
- Bulk and CT heterogeneity correction
- Blocks, collimator rotation, tissue compensators
- Co-planar
and non-coplanar beam geometries
(3D - full 3 degrees of movement: gantry, collimator, couch)
- Simple Chart calculation
- Irregular Fields
- Brachytherapy Planning

Upgrades
A package of hardware and software to upgrade earlier
generations of Target and Target Series2 systems, providing uninterrupted
operation of your treatment planning facility at the lowest total cost
available on the market.
These upgrades of existing GE TPS systems achieve year 2000 compliance,
enhance processor and application performance, improve reliability and
throughput, remove obsolescences, and reduce in-service costs. The latest
validated Target2 application software is included, permitting the same
options and enhancements to be implemented as for a standard Target2 or
Prism-tps system.
Functionality, data manipulations, dose calculations, and operation are
reassuringly familiar, so operator retraining is not required. Beam data
and patient data (outlines, plans, images) are upwards compatible, and
as Prism pre-installs your beam data copied from Target or Target Series2,
a seamless transition to enhanced planning capability results with no
requirement for extensive commissioning.
Upgrade to Target Series2 - replaces the the current computer
workstation (Sun 4/370 ,TAAC, colour monitor and keyboard) with the same
Sun SPARC workstation shipped in Prism-tps systems. The current VDU, terminal
server, digitiser, printers, ethernet components and storage options are
re-used.
Customer's beam data and patient data is 100% compatible. The 0.25"
cartridge tape drive is moved to the upgrade so that all existing patient
archive tapes are available. Prism can transfer this data to 4mm DAT tape
if preferred.
Upgrade to Target - replaces the
DG computer system and the Target operator console , re-uses the digitiser
and Printronix printer. Customer's beam data is copied from the Target
and pre-installed on the upgrade by Prism. Existing patient outline/plan
data on 8" floppy disk is retrievable but will require transfer to
4mm DAT tape by special arrangement.
